Movies Seen So Far This Year
Fun with Dick and Jane (Jim Carrey, Tea Leoni)
Fair to middling. I like Jim Carrey and love Tea Leoni and kept wishing they'd had better material to work with.
The Chronicles of Narnia (Four Unknown Kids, Tilda Swinton)
Didn't knock my socks off. I had hoped for magical, got pedestrian instead. Did the animation of Mr. and Mrs. Beaver put anyone else in mind of the Coca-Cola polar bears?
Rumor Has It (Jennifer Anniston, Kevin Costner, Shirley MacLaine, Mark Ruffalo, Mena Suvari, Kathy Bates)
Fun little movie. Fresh premise. Good acting. Likeable cast.
Munich (Eric Bana, Daniel Craig, Geoffrey Rush) - POSSIBLE SPOILERS
Generally well done, but needs tightening. Badly. Especially the second half. And that love scene with the intercuts near the end. What were Spielberg and Tony Kushner thinking?
Carolina (Julia Stiles, Shirley MacLaine, Azura Skye)
Caught this on tv. Expected nothing, turned out to be a quite nice little movie.
Sahara (Matthew McConaughey, Steve Zahn, Penelope Cruz)
Caught this on tv, too. Surprisingly well done and entertaining action-adventure flick, despite its being less-than-enthusiastically received by the critics and doing less-than-stellar business at the box office.
