A long time ago I read that if one kept a written record of one's exercise routines, one would be more likely stick to them over the long haul.
That made considerable sense to me, so I've been doing so for more than 20 years now, and it's worked.
To keep myself even more motivated, I've decided to post my monthly totals here, starting with my results for the past three months. In January, I'll begin posting totals for each preceding month.
The exercises I try to do on a daily basis -- though I'm happy if I manage to get them done on an average of once every two days or better -- are 30 push-ups, 30 reverse push-ups, 30 curls with dumbbells, and 30 lifts with dumbbells, along with a 2-mile walk (one-and-a-half miles when my wife walks with me).
For about 25 years I ran the same 2-mile route 2-to-4 times a week, but doing so on concrete and ashphalt wore down the cartilage under my meniscus to the point that if I run very much these days, a couple of bones in my knee-joint scrape against each other, causing considerable pain, so my orthopedist advised me to walk or bike.
All that being said, herewith my totals for the past three months:
SEPTEMBER
Push-ups = 540
Reverse Push-ups = 420
Curls = 420
Lifts = 480
Walking = 23.5 miles
OCTOBER
Push-ups = 840
Reverse Push-ups = 710
Curls = 710
Lifts = 840
Walking = 23 miles
NOVEMBER

Curls = 420
