We used to talk a lot
About the things we'd do someday
We used to talk about
How we would meet again some way
We'd be the same
Wouldn't be a change in us
No silly game
Of being strangers, not for us

We used to walk the streets
Just where we went didn't matter much
We'd have a beer or two
We'd laugh and clown but rarely touch
Sometimes we sat
And stared off into space

Our eyes to bright to see our face

One night you tried to tell me
You thought you understood
How you could love two girls/men at once
And each love could be good
But then you said it hurt you
To know you'd have to choose
To go with one, leave one behind
For either way you'd lose

So now you've gone away
You're getting married in July
And when I come to watch
